Bill Clinton
"Big things are expected of us, and nothing big ever came of being small."
The 42nd President of the United States, Bill Clinton is a political figure who a decade after leaving office continues to hold a powerful public position. Beginning as the Cold War ended, his term marked the longest period of peace–time economic expansion in American history. Clinton's administration was dedicated to economic and educational reform. He proposed the first balanced budget in decades, and also achieved the lowest unemployment and inflation rates in modern times. Aside from political aspirations Clinton has an ability to connect with people, a definite factor in why he left the Oval Office with the highest end–of–office approval rating of any U.S. president since World War II.
Bill Clinton is a leader who has a strong tie to his roots and a passion for his past. These influences on his character shaped both his political career and post–administration efforts. He has been an important leader in emergency relief plans such as following the 2005 Indian Ocean tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, and most recently when he was named by the U.N. as a Special Envoy to Haiti. In 2005 he established the Clinton Global Initiative, an annual event that gathers a diverse group of global leaders to not only discuss, but also enact solutions to the world's most pressing issues.
