Joseph Stiglitz, 2001 Nobel Prize recipient in Economics, served as an
advisor to the government of the United States, where he was highly
influential in the design and evaluation of economic policy during the '90s.
He served as Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, and as Chief
Economist and Senior Vice-President of the World Bank from 1997 -2000.
In 2009, he was appointed chair of the United Nations Commission of
Experts on Reform of the International Financial and Monetary System.
